On The Road / Afraid of Dying

Notes in Sobriety

A Little Story

I cannot drink, I never could
just a soul afraid of dying
I cannot drink, but not one drop
the cat’s out the bag; a lion

I cannot drink, but always would
the girl, inside was crying
I cannot drink, could never say
the truth, you see I’m hurting

I cannot not drink, I never could
but worked, a way of lying
I cannot drink, I never should
just a girl, scared of the living

I cannot drink, I never could
just a soul, devastated by the dying
I cannot drink, but always would
in a life, so God-damn terrifying

I cannot drink, just a soul confused
working life, I’m tender – no denying
I cannot drink, I never could
just a soul afraid of dying

I cannot drink, I always knew
that road, was unforgiving

I cannot drink, now never would
just a girl, on the road to the living
